January 2018 Reading List: A Virtual Book Club, Month One

To start off the new year, I’m adding a Book Club section to my blog. They say to do what you love. Well, I absolutely love reading.

I’ve chosen these five books to begin the year with. I have decided that each month should have something heavy, something light, and something educational. How did I pick them? Well, they were all in my huge tower of books that I plan on reading this year. I didn’t know where to begin, so I picked blue books because the color matches how cold it is outside. This isn’t science people, ha!

The Books

I’ll be starting with, “Into the Water” by Paula Hawkins. She wrote “Girl on the Train”. I really enjoyed that book and have been looking forward to reading this. I just received it as a Christmas gift, so I can’t wait to begin.

Secondly, I will lighten it up with some chick lit. I have chosen “The Vintage Girl” by Hester Browne. The title sold me. Aside from reading, I love vintage. It looks like a fun and quick read.

Then, I want to begin “Perfectly Yourself” by Matthew Kelly. This book was given as a gift to everyone attending Mass for Christmas. The description sounds like something I could use right now in the beginning of the new year.

After that, I think I will be ready for Harlan Coben’s “The Stranger”. My husband read this and thought I’d like it.

Lastly, for this month, I hope to get into Colm Toibin’s “Nora Webster”. I am not sure what I read or what list I saw this book on, but I have had it on my “want to read list” for several months now.

I know not everyone will read these five books this month. I sacrifice a lot of sleep to read. But If you read any one of these, or have already read any of them, I’d love to hear your thoughts! After I finish each one I will write a short review. Let’s make this fun!
