Winter and the holidays are here. It is time for parties and for sipping hot chocolate while cozy at home. Whether you are hosting a crowd or simply enjoying a night with hot chocolate and a good book, you will want to make this. It is super easy and is a wow factor when you serve your guests. It’s also a good excuse to be crafty. Mug embellishments that are sold at places like Williams Sonoma are super expensive however, you can create your own for the price of just marshmallows and toothpicks (and the extra great part is that you’ll still have a bunch of marshmallows left over).
This was my glass of Hot Chocolate last week. Making this Marshmallow Snowflake is super easy to do and it is really pretty. I saw a picture of this under the hashtag #rsholiday and knew that I had to try it for myself. If you have children, this is also a great craft for them. It would make a festive snack time for little ones.

What you need to make your Marshmallow Snowflake:
- 8 toothpicks
- 1 large marshmallow
- 16 small marshmallows
Easy Steps to Follow:
- Stick the toothpicks into the large marshmallow, spacing evenly.
- put the small marshmallows on the toothpicks as pictured.
- take kitchen scissors and cut a small slice into the side of the large marshmallow. This will be the area that sits on your mug.
That’s it! Serve and enjoy the reactions. From experience, I can tell you that once you are ready to drink your hot chocolate and you plunk all of these marshmallows into your mug, 17 marshmallows including one large one, is marshmallow hot chocolate heaven!
